Change of venue for 12 February

Due to the sad death of Earl Bathurst, we have been informed that no events will be allowed in Cirencester Park until further notice, so we have another venue for the 12th February Off Road Duathlon; Charlton Park.

Charlton Park is located on the edge of the Cotswolds, near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, with the entrance situated on the A429 Cirencester/Malmesbury Road, SN16 9DG within easy reach of and between  Jct 17, M4 and Cirencester. This PRIVATE Estate is the home of The Earl and Countess of Suffolk and Berkshire and extends to 4500 acres which is made up of grassland, woods and gardens. The off road course will be very similar to the Cirencester course with a mix of wooded trails, grass and tracks, with a flattish run and undulating bike course. A beautiful venue, free parking, chip timing, secure transition, toilets, food vendor, mementos, prizes and ideal for both experienced and novice competitors.

Race Information

Direction, venue details and location map are available here. Full details posted out with race numbers 12 days prior to event. In line with ITU rules SORRY NO CYCLO-CROSS BIKES. Lord Suffolk has kindly let us hire a quiet area of this beautiful park for this event. There are toilets and water available on site, but no showers. Cycling is not usually allowed in Charlton Park so please do not ride in the park prior to the event - PRIVATE ESTATE.

Events

The Long Event and the Relay consists of a 2 mile cross country run (all off road) followed by a 10 mile MTB bike (all off-road) and finishes with a second 2 mile cross country run. Minimum age for entry is 17 years as at 31 December 2012. The relay event is based on a team of one runner and one rider and these teams can be either male, female or mixed.

The Short Event consists of a 1 mile cross country run (all off road) followed by a 5 mile MTB bike (all off-road) and finishes with a second 1 mile cross country run. Minimum age for entry is 14 years as at 31 December 2012.

Course

The run is a two lap route run on grass and wooded trails (the short event does one lap). The bike ride is two laps of an undulating, wooded trail with a grass section at the end of each lap (the short event does one laps). The final run is over the same course as the first run. In both events the emphasis is on FUN but the long event is tough, so it is recommended that first time MTB competitors choose the short event.

Results

All results will be available at the finish and published on this website. If you require printed results then please provided an extra SAE.

Prizes

In the long event prizes will be awarded to first five men and first three women overall, the first male and female 40+, 50+, 60+ and the first relay team. In the short event a prize will be awarded to the first youth (14 -16 years) male and female, the first male and female aged 17+ and the first 40+ male and female. Please note, all ages are calculated as at 31 December 2012.
