One Mile or Two Miles Open Water Swim

WELCOME

TriFerris Promotions welcomes you to Waterland Outdoor Centre, which is part of Britain's largest water park; Cotswold Water Park. The Park's lake is usually used for swimming, canoeing, wind surfing and fishing and is set in a beautifully landscaped area.

LOCATION

Waterland Outdoor Centre, Spratsgate Lane, Shorncote, Nr Cirencester, Glos, GL7 6DF.

HOW TO GET THERE

From London, the South East and The South West - M4 Junction 15. Take dual carriageway A419 towards Swindon, then follow A417/419 towards Cirencester. After approx 10 miles take B4696 Spine Road, sign-posted Cotswold Water Park. Carry on along Spine Road for two miles, straight over at the cross-roads and then take the first turning on your right into Spratsgate Lane. Waterland Entrance is 200m on the right (Do not use park main/barrier entrance or you will have to pay).

From Gloucester area take A417/A419 passing Cirencester and head towards Swindon. Approx four miles from Cirencester turn off at Junction for B4696 Spine Road, sign-posted Cotswold Water Park. Carry on along Spine Road for two miles, straight over at the cross-roads and then take the first turning on your right into Spratsgate Lane. Waterland entrance is 200m on the right (Do not use park main/barrier entrance or you will have to pay).

PARKING

There will be free parking on site for competitors and spectators. From Waterland gates, turn right, proceed to field and follow marshal instructions.

CAMPING

There is on-site camping available for a small fee per tent/caravan, book online at: www.ukwatersports.co.uk/triathlon.htm or call on 01285 861202 to book a pitch. Running water, toilets and showers are available at Waterland building.

REGISTRATION

Registration will be held in the marquee near the entrance 7.20am to 8.15am. Sorry No registration after 8.15am. At registration you must show some form of photographic identification. You will be issued with a timing wrist band and a swim hat, you will then have your right hand marked with your number.

BAG STORAGE

Bag storage will be available in registration marquee.

TIMING

Your timing wristband, which must be worn at all times, will bear a numbered tab.

  • Tear off the tab at the end of the swim and place it on the timing table.
  • No Tab, No Time! Give in the black wristband to get you Big Swim Medal.

MEDICAL ADVICE/WATER SAFETY

If you feel unwell on race day please don't race. If you have any medical condition including asthma or any allergies please email details to: triferris@btinternet.com. Motor boats and canoe crews will be on the water and St John Ambulance will be on shore. If you get into trouble in the water roll onto your back, put you hand in the air and a canoeist will help you. Don't panic or try to climb onto the canoe, hold onto the tail of the canoe and listen for instructions.

The water quality in this clear lake is checked by the Environment Agency every month from May to September and is rated amongst the top bathing water in the UK.

START TIMES

8.25am One Mile Swim M/F Compulsory Race Brief
8.30am One Mile Swim M/F START (Yellow Hats)
8:40am Two Mile Swim M/F Compulsory Race Brief
8:45am Two Mile Swim M/F START (Red Hats)

You must be at the start line 5 minutes before your start time for a final briefing.

The categories for both men and women are as follows:

  17 - 19 = C 20 - 24 = D 25 - 29 = E 30 - 34 = F
35 - 39 = G 40 - 44 = H 45 - 49 = I 50 - 54 = J 55 - 59 = K
60 - 64 = L 65 - 69 = M 70 - 74 = N 75 - 79 = P

Please note: Age Category is age At 31/12/11.

THE COURSE

Wetsuits are recommended for both swims. If you need to hire a wetsuit contact your nearest triathlon/swim shop or check out internet deals. Water Temperature 18.5oC.

Start

This is located at Waterland Watersports Beach.

ONE MILE SWIM - A one lap course

TWO MILE SWIM - A two lap course

there will be a map of the course at registration.

Finish

The finish is located next to start area, there will be flags and arrows to sight on.

MEDALS, PRIZES, RESULTS

Big Swim Medal to all finishers. The prize giving will take place near the finish as soon as last person from the water. Trophies for first three M/F overall, 1st 40+ M/F and first 50+ M/F in both events. Results will be displayed at prize giving, then will be displayed on www.triferris.com Saturday evening. If you require a printed set of results please leave an SAE at registration.

REFRESHMENTS

Food and drink will be on sale.

LOST PROPERTY/CHILDREN

Please report any lost property/Children to the bag storage marquee.

LATE ENTRIES

On-line entries are still being taken until 8/7/11, 12 noon.
